How do you disinfect Wooden Baby Toys?

wooden baby toys

Wooden toys can withstand alot! They are often thrown around, scattered around the house, dropped on restaurant floors, taken to playgrounds and left at kindy or nursery. You often wonder what kind of germs are lurking on these toys, especially when babies love putting everything in their mouths. Therefore, it is probably a good idea to check your baby toys regularly.

So how do you clean or disinfect your baby’s wooden toys?

It might be comforting to know that in particular with high-quality wooden toys, no special cleaning agent is normally necessary. Wood has natural antibacterial properties, so wiping the toy down with a slightly damp cloth is often enough.

You should never use disinfectants or chemical cleansers as they often contain toxic substances.  In order to preserve the condition of your wooden toy, it should never be immersed in water as it can tend to cause the wood to swell or warp.

So put those sprays and scrubs away and rest assured a nice thorough clean with a damp cloth is enough!
